33.            TORPEDO

The old crocodile looms docile
Itself is volatile to a surprise attack
Yet with one strike
You can spike an aircraft carrier.
Like a small fox terrier
Do your crew sweat
As someone plays Ping-Pong
In your disturbed water.
The same spike
Can make dead meat
Of the old crocodile.
Unseen you cover the oceans
To let fear in modern hearts
As they treat the old man with respect.
